SECTEI (agreement SECTEI/144/2024):
The SECTEI (Secretaría de Educación, Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación de la Ciudad de México) generously financed an 18 months project (2024-2026) to implement an infrasound monitoring system at Popocatépetl volcano, similar to the one operating at Etna volcano (
Ripepe et al. 2018).
The funded project, entitled
"Sistema de monitoreo de la actividad explosiva volcánica del Popocatépetl mediante infrasonidos", supported the installation of a permanent infrasound array and seismometer, and the development of this website to be integrated within the existing
MOUNTS monitoring system.
Project members include:
IGEF (Instituto de Geofísica, UNAM, Mexico),
LGS (Laboratory of Experimental Geophysics, UNIFI, Italy),
GECO company (Italy), and
CENAPRED (Centro Nacional de Prevención de Desastres, Mexico).
